A+LSCURRICULUM GUIDE
Language Arts/English - Vocabulary II
Grade Levels 4-6

The A+dvanced Learning System® Reading Curriculum is a comprehensive, completely integrated reading curriculum for grade levels 1-9. This program directs students from beginning reading levels to more advanced reading skills utilizing a Four-Step Approach in the Word Analysis, Vocabulary, and Comprehension title series. All of these series have extensive tutorial and instructional voice support.

The A+LS Four-Step Approach employs Study, Practice, Test and Essay exercises. This approach provides for the phonetic and visual introduction of the student to new words and word sounds, provides for multiple exposures to the use of words and word sounds while providing the student an opportunity to use words in context and in whole language exercises. The A+LS software design provides for an engaging, colorful learning environment.

The three Vocabulary titles teach important concepts in word formation and meaning. They stress the similarities and differences between types of words such as homonyms, phonograms, homographs, and synonyms, and emphasize important concepts such as prefixes, suffixes, contractions, and compound words.
